IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheri Ann
Knorr
October 10, 1942 – November 2, 2019
Cheri Knorr, 77, Coleharbor, ND, formerly of Sawyer, passed away Friday, November 2, 2019, surrounded by her family, at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, AZ.
Cheri Ann Knorr was born October 10, 1942, in Thief River Falls, MN. Her parents were Walter and Marren (Kenner) Odegaard. Cheri was raised in Devils Lake, ND and attended Central High School. She attended Minot State College and received a B.A. in Elementary Education.
Cheri met the love of her life, Robert Knorr, while attending college. They married on June 6, 1964 in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. They made their first home in Fargo, where Cheri taught and Robert finished college at NDSU.
Robert and Cheri settled on a farm south of Sawyer, ND where they raised their five children and lived for over 40 years. Cheri has been a member of Bethany Lutheran Church since she and Robert were married. She was always very involved in both her church and children's school activities.
They started spending winters in Arizona in 1995 where Robert also farmed. In 2005 they built their dream home on Lake Audobon, ND where they currently reside.
Cheri loved seeing the lake and her flower gardens through the windows of her lake home. She loved gardening and being outside. Cheri's pride and joy were her 5 children and 16 grandchildren. The family would get together every summer to enjoy each other and lake life.
Entertaining and making sure everyone was well fed were top priorities of Cheri. Nothing was more important to her than supporting her family and friends. As her friends would describe her "she had a servant's heart," would never complain and always saw the good in others. She always put other people before herself.
Cheri loved to host gatherings for family and friends. She knew the importance of bringing people together. She had a gift of making people feel welcome and special.
Despite her fight with Parkinson's Disease over the past 15 years and her recent diagnosis in 2018 of Epilepsy, she always maintained a positive outlook and found joy in all she did. Even through her struggles and time in the hospital she maintained such amazing grace, kindness and concern for everyone around her. She never complained no matter what her circumstances. She continued to teach us the important lessons of life until her passing. We will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Knorr; Five children: Alyssa Hollier, Fairfax, VA, Alonna Norberg, Fargo, Renae (Kevin) Beeter, Minot, Rob (Anna Marie) Knorr, Maricopa, AZ and Steve (Margo) Knorr, Minot; 16 grandchildren: William, Robert and Olivia Hollier, Marren, Isabella and Grantham Norberg, Nicholas, Lucas and Zachary Beeter, Robert, Jake, Averie, Juliette, Collin, Camrynn and Katelynn Knorr; brothers and sisters: Wayne (Pam) Odegaard, Rugby and JeriLynn (Brad) Larson, Devils Lake; sister-in-law: Kathy Odegaard, Bismarck; In-laws: Gene (Lorelei) Knorr, Rio Verde, AZ, Carol Knorr Hazelbower, Phoenix, AZ, Kay Knorr, Phoenix, AZ, Paul (Connie) Knorr, Phoenix, AZ and Mark (Carol) Knorr, Velva.
