Charles L. "Brother" Jones (Jr.) 59, Minot, passed on Thursday, March 11th 2009 in Minot.

Charles Lennard "Brother" Jones Jr. was born August 26th 1950, to Charles L. Jones and Vivian (Fontenette) Jones in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Upon graduation from Rowan High School in 1969, he joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 20 years. In 1974, he became the proud father of his daughter, Madeline Y. Jones and in 1978, he became the proud father of Reginald V. Jones.

During his time in the U.S. Air Force, he received the following awards: The Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.

Charles has been a long-term member of the Arctic Mason Lodge #7 of North Pole, AK, and in 2004 was appointed to be the District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a member of the American Legion Minot Post and the TREA The Retired Enlisted Association.

After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1997, he worked maintenance jobs in Alaska prior to moving to North Dakota in 2006. He continued this type of work in Minot until 2009.

During his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, golfing, and watching sports, but his favorite past time was spending time with his three granddaughters, Aleah, Jayda and Mya Jones. He loved taking them to Dairy Queen, spending holidays together and teaching them things that only a papa has the wisdom to teach. Charles was a kind, generous man that would help anyone in need. He had a huge heart that will be missed in so many ways.

Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Madeline Jones, Anchorage, AK, son, Reginald (Victoria) Jones, Minot, ND, grandchildren Aleah, Jayda and Mya Jones, all of Minot, brothers Jules E. (Myrtle) Olivier, New Iberia, LA, John E. (Beverly) Fontenette, Oakland CA, and Robert Jones Hattiesburg, MS, sisters, Charlene (Howard) Short, Hattiesburg, MS, Linda Jones, Petal, MS, Brenda Fuentes, Miami, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Charles was preceded by his parents Charles L & Vivian (Fontenette) Jones, Uncle Joseph & Aunt Nancy "Oddy" Fontenette, along with other numerous uncles and aunts.

Funeral Service: Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park.
Visitation : Thursday March 18, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
