Charlane Ann Toy (Hargrave) Bertsch, 83, Minot, formerly of Drake, ND, died Monday, April 23, 2018 in her home.

Charlane was born on April 13, 1935 in Albertville, Wisconsin the 7th daughter in a family of 13 children, 6 older siblings and 6 younger, to Ira and Eleanor (Boushack) Toy. She attended grade school in Marshfield, Wisconsin, before the family moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin in 1945. The family moved to Drake, North Dakota that year and she continued her schooling at Drake.

Charlane was united in marriage to Robert Hargrave on May 22, 1953. They made their home in Minot. He died August 13, 1974. She furthered her education by receiving her GED and continued at Minot State College, graduating in 1979 Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, Gerantology and Sociology.

Charlane was united in marriage to Robert Bertsch on June 5, 1976 in Minot. Following her completion of college, she was employed at the dental practice of Dr.'s Hildahl and Keup as an office assistant from 1979 until 1983. Robert died on September 17, 2005. They had enjoyed spending winters in Florida for several years until his death.

Charlane was a member of Calvary Alliance Church, Minot. She enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

Her loving family includes , son, Robert (Marlene) Hargrave, Minot. Granddaughter, Jill and her husband, Jon McLemore; step-daughter, Lisa Lunsford, Tulsa, OK; step-grandchildren, Lauren Bertsch and Serita (Clay) Donnell; step-great grandchildren, Sophie and Cash Donnell; sisters, Delores Reigel of Marshfield; Alice (Francis) Balmer, Ashland, Wisc; Joan Pryor of Cedar Hill, TX, Janet Hasti, Drake, ND, Teckla (Merle) Shaylor, Vancouver, WA, Charles (Sharon) Toy, Drake, ND; sister in law, Linda Toy, Flint, MI; along with her best friend, Avis Mathis; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlane was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Robert F. Hargrave and Robert A. Bertsch; infant son; step-daughter, Moira Bertsch; sisters, LaRayne Prough, Nellie Harder, Ramona Bossert, Sharon Bullard; brothers, Michael and Ira Toy.

Celebration of Life service : Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Calvary Alliance Church, Minot.
Public Prayer service : Thursday, April 26th at 7:00 p.m. in Calvary Alliance Church with a visitation held there from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Thursday, April 26th from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Calvary Alliance Church or Trinity Cancer Care Center.
