Carroll Marlowe Larson, 90, Minot, formerly of Leeds, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.
Carroll Marlowe Larson was born on June 20, 1925 in Leeds, ND to Walter and Lillian (Snetker) Larson. He was reared and educated in Leeds and graduated from Leeds High School in 1943. As a young adult, he farmed with his family prior to entering the U.S. Navy on October 22, 1943. He received his honorable discharge on March 30, 1946. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Leeds area where he continued farming.
Carroll married Thelma Himle on June 20, 1947 in Leeds. They made their home on a farm north of Leeds prior to moving to Minot in 1952, when Carroll became a member of the Minot Police Department. He retired as a lieutenant in 1981. Thelma died April 23, 2013
Carroll was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge, Eagles Aerie, American Legion Post all Minot, as well as the North Dakota Peace Officers Association. He especially enjoyed bowling, road trips, cooking, fishing, gardening and lawn care. He enjoyed taking care of others in need, whether it was helping in their garden, lawn or snow care. He loved reaching out to others.
Carroll's loving family includes his daughter , Sandra "Sandy" Larson Dienstmann and her husband, Doug of Minot; step grandchild: Alexis Dienstmann of Fargo; siblings: Willard "Bud" (Shirley)Larson, Bothell, WA, Walter Jr. "Sonnie" Larson, Everett, WA, Dennis (Luella) Larson, Auburn, WA; James(Judy) Larson, Olympia, WA, Ragna (Tootsie) Johnson and Gary (Donna) Larson of Tioga; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters: Vivian Almlie and June Larson; brothers, Wallace "Wally" Larson and Donald "Donnie" Larson; brother-in-law: Orville Johnson, Myron Almlie, Lawrence Himle, Arnold Himle, Herald Himle, Joe Himle, Jerry Qvammen and Lawrence Johnson; sisters in law, Blanche Larson, Beatrice Larson, Sadie Qvammen, Lois Johnson and Hazel Johnson.
Celebration of the Life Service : Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot
Graveside Service : Friday, June 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Leeds Cemetery, Leeds, ND
Visitation: Friday, December 18th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home , Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Minot or organization of the donor's choice.
