Obituary

Carroll Merlin Albrightson , 87, Minot, died Friday, October 02, 2015, in a Minot hospital.

Carroll was born June 12, 1928, in Minot, ND to Jacob and Olga (Enga) Albrightson. He was reared in Minot and completed his education as a graduate of Minot High School, class of 1946.

Carroll was joined in marriage to Helen Engebretson on June 10, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mohall, ND. They made their home in Minot their entire lives together and were blessed with three sons. He entered the workforce as an employee of the Westlie Motor Company until joining the Great Northern Railroad and training as a fireman in 1953. He worked his way through railroad life for the next 38 years and retired as an engineer in 1991.

Carroll was a committed member of the Minot community as a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot Elks, Gold Wing Riders, Souris Riders, National Rifle Association, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, NARVE and was a life member of the Moose Lodge. He carried a number of interests and hobbies throughout his life. Pistol shooting involved many trips to national competitions at Camp Perry, OH, where he earned a master shooter ranking and won a national championship. His love of the open road on a motorcycle took him to Sturgis, SD, Colorado, Montana, Minnesota, and Canada over the years. He also enjoyed the simple pleasure listening to music could offer.

Family and friends were one of the most important things to Carroll during his entire life. He will be missed for everything he was to those he loved and all who loved him.

Carroll's surviving family includes his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Albrightson, Minot; sons, Gary Albrightson, Bottineau, ND, Dale (Scarlett) Albrightson, Ft. Worth, TX and Rod (Marlene) Albrightson, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Torby Albrightson, Erik Albrightson, Hannah (Chauncey Planteen) Albrightson, Tate Albrightson and Jesse Albrightson; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law, Alice (Gerald)

Undlin, Minot, his aunt, Ella (Frank) Eicker, Louisville, KY, and his aunt Mabel Parr, Georgetown, IN.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob (Olga) Albrightson, and by his father and mother in law, Obert (Alpha) Engebretson, by his brother and sister in law, Jerome (Elsie) Albrightson, and his brother in law and sister in law Milton (Luella) Engebretson.

Funeral Service : 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Monday, October 5, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church\'s Soup Kitchen or to an organization of donor's choice.
