Caroline Ernestine Sollid, 93, Minot and formerly of Velva died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in a Minot nursing home.

Caroline was born on July 31, 1917 on a farm near Willow City, ND to William and Regina (Biberdorf) Biberdorf. She was reared on a farm near Gardena and educated in Gardena where she graduated from high school in 1938. As a young adult she was employed as a stenographer at the AAA office in Towner.

Caroline married Hilton "Bud" Sollid on January 25, 1946 in Willow City. They made their home on a farm in North Prairie Township of McHenry County near Velva where they raised small grains. They moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot in September of 2006.

Caroline was a member of Stenkjaer Lutheran Church, Simcoe and its Ladies Aid as well as the Senior Citizens in Velva and Moose Lodge in Minot. She especially enjoyed cooking, gardening and embroidery.

Caroline's loving family includes her husband of 65 years Hilton " Bud" Sollid of Minot; children: Gary (Masayo) Sollid of Fargo, Carol McMahon of Brooklyn Park, MN; Gene Sollid of Minot; granddaughter: Julie (Bob) Cronin of Crystal, MN; great grandchildren: Zoe, Joseph and Henry; sisters: Rose Ryan of Poulsbo, WA and Irene Freitag of Arcola SK and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Louise Pousson; brothers: Hubert, Amos, Eric, Hugo, Henry and Ernie and son-in-law: Terry McMahon.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Interment will be in the Spring in the Stenkjaer Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Simcoe.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Stenkjaer Cemetery.
