Carol Marie Wahlstrom, 75, Minot and longtime Manager of Lyle's Western Wear, died peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in a Minot hospital with her loving family at her side.

Carol was born on June 14, 1942 in Hettinger, ND to Lyle and Beth (Anfinson) Markegard. She was raised and educated in Hettinger. Carol was once married to Dale Skogen and they made their home in the Hettinger area where she was employed in the family businesses. She moved to Minot in 1978.

Carol married Peter J. Wahlstrom on September 24, 1979 in Sidney, MT. They made their home in Minot where Carol was Manager of Lyle's Western Wear, Vice President of Lyle's Inc. and Manager of Markegard Rentals.

Carol was passionate about helping others and donating to her favorite charities. She enjoyed collecting antiques and porcelain dolls and was a regular at auction sales and flea markets. Also, she enjoyed doodling, crossword puzzles and writing, especially poetry. Carol was in her element when she was buying merchandise for the store and many great family memories were centered around these buying trips to Spearfish, SD. Holidays and weekends were also dear to her as she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Carol's loving family includes her husband Peter; children: Sara (Justy) Reed of Chicago IL, Lahoma (Joe) Turner of Boise ID, Daleddie Skogen of Fargo, Jody (Tammy) Skogen of Bismarck, Mariya Hardy of Minot and Weylin (Shila) Wahlstrom of Minot; grandchildren: Isaac Hooft; Brooke, Thomas, Erica, Andrew, Derek (Elizabeth) and Dillon Skogen; Zane, Cale, Daya and Brey Wahlstrom; great grandchildren: Danika Standing Bear and one on the way; siblings: Cindy Ham (Jay Ohm) of Hettinger and Kay (Mel) Carlson of Dickinson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Larry and Roy.

Celebration of the Life of Carol Wahlstrom: Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in The Pursuit Church - Minot.
Interment will be in the Veterans Section of Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
