Carla Janell Hewitt , 48, Minot, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in a Minot hospital.
In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering was held.
Carla Janell (Evans) Hewitt was born November 7, 1969, in Anderson City Indiana to Carl and Eunice (Buck) Evans. She resided mostly in Bloomington Indiana, until graduating in 1988 from Bloomington Highschool South. After Graduating high school in 1988, she moved to Lakeland, Florida near her parents where she worked fixing and maintaining boats. In 1990, Carla met Eric West, and on May 4th 1991, gave birth to her first son Aaron Michael West, soon after Eric and Carla both moved to Sacramento California where on July 17th 1992, their second son, Kelsey Stephen West was born. Carla moved to Minot North Dakota in the summer of 2010, where a couple years after, Carla met her husband William Hewitt Jr. at Minot Air Force Base commissary during a training meeting where they shared their love for guns, they then married on March 24, 2014 at the Minot Court house.
Carla worked many years for the Department of Defense at the commissary while in North Dakota, she was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association, and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. However, most of all she was a proud mother to many, and a proud grandmother to her three grandchildren; Allyson Marie West (7), Benjamin Eugene West (1), and her new granddaughter Elizabeth Mary West (1wk). During her life she proved herself to be a woman with and immense amount of love for the ones she cared for, always attending her children's games, and providing for the needs of her family whenever needed; consistently the one who sacrificed everything for others, even at the expense of her own needs. She not only was a great mother to her children and to those around her, but also a phenomenal teacher, who taught with sympathy, understanding and patience. Carla exemplified not only the love of the Savior, but at times the wrath of God. Her demeanor as a strong woman never failed her in this life, and will not fail her in the next. Her love of the Gospel, was second to none, however with that love of the Gospel came the teaching of it as well. From very early on she was very intragral in the teaching of the Gospel to her children, and in turn unbeknown to her, the foundation of her children's faith today. Her family have very many fond memories of her skills in the kitchen, as she was the angel of everyone's meal. Her most delicious creations were her, spaghetti sauce, her banana and zucchini bread, and her delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies.
For many years my mother yearned for the day to be reunited with her mother Eunice, her memories and love that she had for her mother rivaled the deepest love one person could possibly have for another. Because of a deep understanding of the Gospel and the promises offered by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family is very confident that she has once again been reunited with her Mother Eunice, for time and all eternity.
Her loving family includes: Her beloved husband William Hewitt; Sons, Aaron West, Kelsey West, and Brennan Simard all of Minot, ND; Grandchildren: Allyson West, Benjamin West, and Elizabeth West; Father: Carl and Sarah Evans of Auberndale, FL; Sisters: Catherine Mead, Lakeland, FL and Sherri Thompson, Palm City, FL and 5 Nieces.
She was preceded in death by her Mother Eunice, and Sister Yvonn.
