C. Marie Gooch , 90, Minot, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in a Minot Hospital.

Clarice Marie was born July 15, 1925 at St. John, North Dakota the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Aasletten) DeMers. She was raised at the farm near St. John and educated at country schools. She graduated in 1945 from the Notre Dame Academy at Willow City, ND. She attended the North Dakota Agricultural School for one year and completed her degree in nursing from the Sister of St. Francis School of Nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot in 1950.

Marie was employed for one year in Great Falls, Montana as a private duty nurse. She was united in marriage to Marshall Gooch on December 22, 1951 at Great Falls. Following their marriage, they moved to Minot, where along with raising their 6 children, she was employed as a registered nurse for St. Joseph's Hospital in the medical and pediatric units. She retired in 1988. Marshall died September 26, 2006. Marie was a resident of the Wellington Assisted Living Center for the past three years.

Marie was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church both of Minot, the Minot Family YMCA, and the Criterion Book Club. Her hobbies and interests included gardening, embroidery, reading, recycling and canning especially jellies. She enjoyed sewing her daughter's clothing and spending time with her family at their lake home on Lake Huff. After retiring, they traveled to most of the 50 States and to Europe.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marshall, brother, Averill DeMers, and beloved sister, Norma Byrd.

Mass of Christian Burial : Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.in Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.
Vigil Prayer service & Rosary Recitation : Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00 pm. in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army, Our Lady of Grace Church, Minot Family YMCA or the Wellington Assisted Living Center Activities Program.
