Obituary

Burnell "John" Eugene Repnow, 83, Minot and formerly of the Underwood &Turtle Lake area, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 in a Minot Hospital.

Burnell was born December 27, 1929 at Underwood, North Dakota, the son of Walter and Bertha (Anderson) Repnow. He was raised on the family farm in the Underwood/Turtle Lake area and assisted with the operation of the farm during his younger years. He was drafted into the US Army on April 11, 1951 and honorably served his country during the Korean War until March 26, 1953.

Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota and was employed as a truck driver in the Construction Industry. He was united in marriage to Doris Heinle on August 1, 1954 at Turtle Lake. In 1957, they moved to Minot, where he was employed at the Minot Air Force Base in civil service until 1990 when he retired.

Burnell was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he served on the Church Council as a trustee. He was also a member of the Minot American Legion, VFW Post #753 and NARFE. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and spending time at his lake home on Rice Lake with family and friends. His most enjoyable time was spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His loving family includes , wife of 59 years, Doris; daughters, Cheryl (Brad) Clott, Minot, Cristyl (Robert) Turi, Cota De Coza, CA, and Charlene (Paul) Fjeldahl, Minot; grandchildren: Tera Clott, Aaron (Christine) Clott, Brittany Davis, Kristyn Turi, Ashley Turi, Lindsey Turi, Matthew Turi, Chance Fjeldahl and Chanel Fjeldahl; great grandchildren: Kylie, Abby, Aydryen and Bailey Clott; brother, TeRoy (Marianne) Repnow, Underwood, ND; sisters in law: Elaine Repnow, Mandan, Violet Repnow, Bismarck & Dorothy Repnow, Coupeville, WA; along with several nieces and nephews.

Burnell was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Daniel Turi; great granddaughter, Kira Clott; sisters, Elsie and Martha, and brothers, Walter Jr., Milton and Delano.

Funeral service: Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Faith United Methodist Church, Minot
Interment : Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the ND Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND.
Visitation: Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
