Bruce Bakken, 71, Minot, formerly of the Wildrose and Noonan areas, died Thursday, December 19, 2024 under the care of hospice at Edgewood Vista in Minot.

Bruce was born on June 6, 1953 in Williston, ND the son of Lloyd and Bernice (Mitzel) Bakken.  He was raised on the family farm near Wildrose and attended schools at Noonan. He furthered his education at Wahpeton State School of Science in diesel mechanics training.

Bruce moved to Minot and began employment with Cummins Diesel, where he met his future wife, Kandis Breding. They were united in marriage in 1979. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Kayla and Jenna. The couple would later divorce.

Bruce continued his work as a mechanic in Minot with Westlie Motor and then most recently with Butler Machinery for more than 30 years. He retired in 2021.

Bruce was a member of the Dakota Trailblazers Snowmobile Club and a member of the Northern Plains Corvette Club, both of Minot. He had attended Our Redeemer's Church. He enjoyed hunting and tinkering with his cars.

His loving family includes: daughters, Kayla Angerstein (Marvin) of Des Moines, IA, Jenna (Brian) Courey of Pensacola, FL; 4 grandchildren to include: Everett & Ella Angerstein, Cadia and Kiera Courey; siblings, Steve (Sandi) Bakken of Crosby; Mary (Guy) Haugland of Crosby and Dennis (Birdie) Bakken of Duluth, MN; his nephews include: Chris Bakken, Chad Bakken, Dustin Loucks, Jared Loucks, Keenan Bakken, Eric Bakken; nieces include, Angie Wanzek and Megan LaCosse; special friend Cindy Sandeen, Minot.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Service: Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Redeemer's Church, Minot.
Inurnment: In the Columbarium of Rosehill Memorial Cemetery, Minot
Visitation/ Gathering: Thursday, January 2nd from 3:00-5:00 pm at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
