Borghild Peterson, 94, Burlington, and formerly of Carpio, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in a Burlington foster care.

Borghild was born April 21, 1915, in Berthold, ND, the daughter of Ole and Berthe (Falkas) Thingelstad. She was raised and educated in Berthold, where she graduated from high school in 1933.She lived in the Berthold area and was once united in marriage to Art Meland.

They resided on a farmstead located near Carpio.Borghild was united in marriage to P. Harold Peterson on June 28, 1965 in Carpio. They made their home on a farmstead outside of Carpio. She was employed as a grocery clerk at Peterson's Grocery for 20 years until her retirement in the mid 80's. They moved to Carpio in 1992.

Borghild was a member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, worked in the church library and was a member of the Quilting Guild. Her hobbies included quilting, bowling, gardending, traveling, word search puzzles, and putting puzzles together.

Surviving family includes: Loving husband of 44 years, P. Harold Peterson, Carpio/Burlington, ND; Daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Gilomen, Overgaard , AZ; Sons, Gordon (Judy) Meland, Palm Bay, FL; Morris Meland, Minot, ND; and Daughter-in-law, Mable Meland, Morrill, NE; 10 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Borghild was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Berthe Thingelstad; son Ardell Meland; sisters, Stella Hagen, Eleanor Flaten, Violet Locken, and Mabel Thingelstad; brothers, Palmer, Hassel and Norman Thingelstad.

Funeral service: Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND.
Family Service: Monday, April 19, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
Interment: First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, ND
Visitation: Monday, April 19, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
