Borghild Harness , 100, Velva, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the Velva Nursing Care Center.

Borghild was born August 20, 1911 at Velva, North Dakota, the daughter of Jens and Bertha (Hystad) Watne. She was raised and educated at Velva and graduated from Velva High School in 1929. She attended Valley City State College and later taught at rural schools near Velva for several years.

Borghild was united in marriage to Ole Harness on September 6, 1936 near Velva. They made their home on the Harness family farmstead in North Prairie Township, where they grew small grains and raised their daughter, Virginia. Ole died December 12, 1958.

Borghild was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church, the Church Women and the Velva Women's Club . She enjoyed music and had taught piano lessons for many years along with having been the North Prairie organist for more than 60 years. She also loved to embroider and crochet, along with attending many sporting events to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her loving family includes, daughter, Virginia Anderson, Velva, grandchildren, Clair (Dr. Lonna) Anderson, Jeanne (Tom) Harty, Susan (David) Weidler, Mark (Sally) Anderson, Deanne (Gregg) Ehlert; great-grandchildren, Anthea Anderson & Jacob Anderson; Ryan (Brandi) Harty, Kendra (Jed) Steiner & Robert Harty; Matt (Amanda) Weidler, Tommy Weidler, Josh Weidler & Sarah Weidler; Robert Anderson & Brady Anderson; Emily, Andrew & Katelyn Ehlert;great-great grandchildren, Brady & Evan Harty, Ella Steiner, Payton Weidler & Keelah Karow; several nieces and nephews.

Borghild was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Robert Anderson, sister, Marie Sather, and brother, Oscar Watne.

Funeral service : Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Interment: North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Simcoe.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00-7:00p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
