Bonnie Lillemon , 98, Minot, passed away on October 26, 2020 in a Minot assisted living facility.
Bonnie Lucille was born on the family farm in Prosperity Township, Renville County, near Sherwood, ND, on October 19, 1922. She was Baptized & Confirmed at Prosperity Lutheran Church, attended North Prosperity Grade School and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1941. Bonnie grew up during the Great Depression years helping on the family farm, often doing field labor tasks. When in school, Bonnie was active in glee club, basketball, school plays, pep club & other extra-curricular activities. She was involved in the Prosperity 4-H club, enjoyed baseball & basketball.
In 1941, Bonnie enrolled in the Luther School of Nursing in Watertown, SD, where she graduated in 1944 with a B.S. Nursing Degree. She returned to Minot and began employment with Trinity Hospital, assigned to the O.B. & Nursery unit. Bonnie married Ernest Lillemon June 2, 1946 and then left Trinity in 1949 to raise their five sons.
Bonnie loved sewing and focused on her children's clothes, doll clothes, needlework, quilt work, baptismal gowns and layettes.
Bonnie returned to Trinity Hospital in 1972 and assumed the role as the Medical Floor Head Nurse, retiring in 1984. Both she and her husband Ernest were actively involved in their church, First Lutheran, heading the spring flower planting project. Bonnie served on the worship services committee, Leadership Council, State Fair pie-making team and used her needlepoint skills to assist in the creation of the Church's 100 th Anniversary communion rail kneeling pads. She was an active volunteer at Trinity Health after her retirement, serving on the Auxiliary Board and working in the Fiscal Services Department. Bonnie and Ernest enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golf and spending time with family.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Alma (Holte) Hanson; husband Ernest Lillemon; son Garold Ernest Lillemon; brothers, Orlin 'Bud", Glenn M., Donald F. and Orlin M "Bill" Hanson, sisters, Wilma Schumacher, Dora L. Watts, Byrle M. Stewart and Erlyne Jahn.
Bonnie is survived by her sons Steven (Editha) Lillemon, Colorado Springs, CO, Marlan (Kristi) Lillemon, Minot, ND, David (Diane) Lillemon, Austin, MN and Mark (Kathy) Lillemon, Denver, CO; grandsons Jason, Eric, Nathan, Matthew, Jared and Geoffrey Lillemon; Granddaughters Kristen Smith, Jenny and Katie Lillemon; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; Brother Robert Hanson along with several cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and "Adopted" family, DuWayne and Karen, Brian and Beth Walz.
Private Celebration of the Life of Bonnie Lillemon: Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot. A Livestream for Public Viewing will be available by using www.firstlutheran.tv .
Private Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Public Visitation: Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church or the First Lutheran Church Evangelism/Media Outreach Program.
