Bonita L. Olson, 85, McVille, ND, formerly of Norwich, Pekin and Minot, ND, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND.
Bonita was born February 27, 1935 on the family farm near Norwich, North Dakota in Ward County, the daughter of Durward and Evelyn (Olson) Lenton. She was raised and educated at Surrey and graduated from Surrey High School in 1953. She attended Minot State Teacher's College and was once married to Jack Abrahamson. She was employed with Northwestern Bell in Minot before transferring to Dickinson, Grand Forks and Fargo, when it became known as AT&T, retiring as manager of operator services in 1986. Bonita has also sold Mary Kay products throughout the years.
Bonita was united in marriage to Frank Olson on June 3, 1977 in Grand Forks. They made their home on a farm near Pekin, ND, along with Grand Forks and Fargo from 1986-1999. They moved to Minot in 1999 and Frank died on October 21, 2001. They spent many winters in Harlingen, Texas.
Bonita was a former member of the Pekin Lutheran Church and the Church Ladies Aide Group. She had also attended Norwich Lutheran Church, Norwich, the Pekin American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Grand Forks Zonta Professional Womens Group. She enjoyed reading, doing craft work and traveling and shopping on the QVC Channel.
Her loving family includes : children, Jackie (Steven) Donohue, Pekin, ND and Jodi (Dale) Myers, Minot; daughter in law, Sherilyn Abrahamson, Minot, ND; step-children, Darlene Reinhart, McVille, and Deanna (Rick) Ward, Huntley, MT; step daughter-in-law, Sally Olson, Bentonville, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren to include: Sarah (David) Martin, Daniel (Esther) Donohue, Nichole (Clarence) Lundeen, Joseph Abrahamson, Zachery Abrahamson, Melanie (Bob) Hogue, Matthew (Jen) Myers, Michelle (Matthew) Ruhland, and Mitchell Myers; 8 step grandchildren to include: K.J. (Heather) Reinhart, Bobbi (Lance) Stewart, Brenda (Brian) Tangen, Jeremy (Julie) Ward, Nikki (Blaine) Salverson, Shawn (Alaine) Olson, Sheldon (Nicole) Olson and Shannon (Morgan) Carlton; 20 great grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild; brother, Rex (Linda) Lenton, Norwich; sister-in-law, Gloria Lenton; Aunt, Ruby Mogard, Norwich; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Olson, her son, Jeffrey Abrahamson; a step son, David Olson; brother, Gary Lenton, and nephew, Marlen Lenton.
