Obituary

Bobby Gene Stewart , 77, Minot, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in a Minot Healthcare Center.

Bobby was born August 2, 1934 in Parsons, KS the son of Ira and Rema (Flippens) Stewart. He was raised and educated at Baxter Springs, KS and graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1952. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Navy in 1952 and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict.

Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Bobby returned to Orange County California, where he was employed as a psychiatric technician for the State of California. He retired in 1996, and moved to Minot in August of 2011 to be nearer his daughter, Amandajane.

Bobby enjoyed painting, drawing and reading. He played basketball in high school and college at Oklahoma, as well as professionally in California. He was the first black athlete to be inducted into the Baxter Springs, KS Hall of Fame. He was also a member of California Professionals Group, CALPERS.

His loving family includes , children, Carolyn Sanuez, Phillipines, Rodghl Stewart, Arlington, CA, Holly Stewart, CA, Dena Morris, Santa Ana,CA, Daren Morris, Santa Ana, CA, Sabin Stewart, CA, Noble Stewart, Ontario, CA, Amandajane (Shylow) Belgarde, Minot; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
