Beverly Anhorn, 76, Max, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, in her home surrounded by her children.

Beverly was born November 6, 1939, in Minot, ND to Leon and Louise (Shellenbaum) Larson. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Sawyer, where she participated in cheerleading. She graduated with the class of 1958.

Bev was united in marriage to Dennis Anhorn on July 3, 1958. They made their home in the Sawyer area for many years until purchasing the Mathis dairy farmstead in 1983.

Dennis and Beverly operated the dairy portion of their ranch until 1987 when they shifted to beef cattle. She sold cream and eggs in the early years on the farm to make ends meet. Dennis retired in 2004 due to his health, but Beverly had continued the operation of the ranch even through her illness, showing her undying love for the ranch and the land. She also worked at Northern Livestock for ten years as a clerk and bookkeeper.

Bev was a member of the United Church of God, Minot and member of Saron Lutheran Church, Minot. She served as 4H Horse Show Secretary and participated as an exhibitor for over 40 years showcasing her love of the gardening through canning, baking, garden goods and the beautiful flowers she grew every year for the state fair. She enjoyed bowling in Velva in her younger years, even winning a state title in the sport. She was also an accomplished seamstress and served as a bus driver for the Sawyer School, driving thousands of miles and children over her 23 years at the wheel. Throughout the years she supported her grandchildren in all their school activities and was a staple in the stands to cheer on the 'Flashes' just like she did in high school. Bev loved an afternoon walk in the coulee with her family and was able to ride a horse her entire life.

She will be missed by all who called her mom, grandma, sister, and friend.

Her loving family includes children, Karen (Todd) Brabandt, Sawyer, Keith (Lori) Anhorn, Stanley, ND, Sue (Duane) Lund, Sawyer and Dean (Andrea) Anhorn, Sawyer, ND; 12 grandchildren, Tory Crowe, Paige Brabandt, and Hunter Brabandt, Sheldon (Jennifer) Anhorn, Travis (Shari) Anhorn and Chelsea Anhorn, Nikki (Mark) Rau, Colton Lund, and Dylan Lund, Braleigh Anhorn, Casen Anhorn, and Davalyn Anhorn; 15 great-grandchildren, Logan, Sophia, Sebastian, Thane and Camaron Crowe, Trayton Wolff, Cohen and Jarik Anhorn, Brynn, and Braiden Anhorn, and McKlayne, Trey, Sutton and baby girl or boy Rau; sister, Emily Jayne Rydberg, Astoria, OR and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dennis, daughter, Cassandra Anhorn, an infant brother and sister, Carolee Grosse.

Celebration of Bev's Life : 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Sawyer High School Auditorium, Sawyer, ND.
Interment: Saron Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Minot, ND.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
