Beverley Ann Druse, 83, Minot died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in a Minot hospital.
Beverley was born on October 7, 1930 in Hurley SD to Leonard and Anna (Jorgensen) Jensen. She was reared on the family farm, graduated from Hurley High School and from Southern State Teacher's College in Springfield, SD with a degree in elementary education. As a young adult she taught at rural schools in that area and in Worthington, MN.
Beverley married Rod Druse on May 29, 1964 in Sioux Falls SD. They made their home on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota where she was a teacher and he was a social worker. The family moved to Minot in 1974 where she was employed as an elementary school teacher at Jefferson and Washington Elementary Schools. She retired in 1994 to help care for her grandchildren.
Beverley was a member of First Presbyterian Church - Minot and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Auxiliary. She was the recipient of several teaching awards and honors and she especially enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, fishing, watching sports and being a grandma. Also, she loved to travel which included trips to Cuba, Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise and she took her grandchildren on numerous trips throughout the U.S. and to Disney World.
Beverley's loving family includes her husband of 50 years Rod; children: Derek (Holly) Druse of Thief River Falls MN, Damon (Mavis) Druse of Minot, Danielle Druse of Marble MN; grandchildren: Megan and Devin Druse; sister: Marge Hanson of Viborg SD and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Beverley was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Leona Graves, Arlene Taylor, Elva Moore and Vernice Overby and brothers: Charles and Lyle Jensen.
A private family service will be held.
Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery - rural Mandan.
Public Visitation: Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
