Obituary

Beulah Opal Besemann, 100, Minot died on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in a Minot healthcare center.

Beulah was born on October 28, 1917 in Muncie, Indiana to George and Bonnie (Lantz) Daubenmeyer. She was raised and educated in Madison Heights, MI (a suburb of Detroit) and graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1936. As a young adult she was employed as a waitress in Royal Oak, MI and Minot. She moved to Minot in 1940.

Beulah married Irving Besemann on May 25, 1941 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was a fulltime wife, mother to six children and homemaker and Irving was co-owner of Holmes Electric. Irving died tragically on February 29, 1968. Following his death, Beulah was employed by the Minot Public Schools for twenty-one years as a cook. She retired in 1990.

Beulah was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and the Ruth Circle of the United Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the ND Bowling Hall of Fame and an active volunteer at the Norsk Hostfest. She especially enjoyed bowling, sewing, crafts, traveling, reading, cooking and was an avid sports fan whose favorite team was the Minnesota Twins. Beulah was an inspiration to many and very supportive of her children and grandchildren. She loved life.

Beulah's loving family includes her children: Nikki (Dennis) Pederson of Coleharbor, Ivan (Robyn) Besemann of Eugene OR, Lloyd Besemann of Pine Hill NJ, Joyce (Richard) Mathson of Minot and William "Billy" (Therese) Besemann of Minot; daughter-in-law: Debbie Besemann of Republic WA; fifteen grandchildren: Christine (Chris) Nagy, Kevin Pederson, Kim (Martin) Aita, Scott (Carrie) Besemann, Tami (Drew) Christensen, Alex Besemann, Melissa Besemann, Jeff Besemann, Codi (Ryan) Branson, Tony (Stacy) Mathson, Whitney (John) Leake, Denny Bishop, Jamey Besemann, Nicole Besemann, Cody Besemann and Miranda Besemann; great grandchildren: Danika, Teagen, Avery,Ollie, Aubrey, Lee, Sara, Dimitri, Chad, Courtney, Taelyn and Jaden; sister: Helen Hooker of Sterling Heights MI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beulah as preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Larry and siblings: Bernard and Dale Daubenmeyer.

Celebration of the Life of Beulah Besemann: Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
