Betty Ann Spaulding , 79, Minot died Sunday, December 27, 2015, in a Garrison hospital.

Betty was born October 1, 1936, near Donnybrook, ND, one of ten children of Gordon and Maybell (Perron) Lawson. She grew up on the farm and completed her high school education in Donnybrook, where she graduated with the class of 1955.

Betty was united in marriage to Paul Spaulding April 1, 1956. This union was blessed with five children, Kris, Kevin, Carrie, Kathy and Corrine. Their growing family caused a move to a farm outside of Minot. Betty loved the many farm animals and worked hard to make sure they were all well loved while in her care. They sold chickens and eggs and also raised pigs, rabbits, geese and ducks. After eight years on the farm, they moved back into the community of Minot where she would spend the rest of her life.

Throughout the years, Betty worked at the Holiday Inn, Gordon's Holiday Spot, Kenway and Pat's Hotel. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she also worked at Schatz's Restaurant, Bonanza and Jake's Spice and Spirit.

Betty was a dedicated member of the Catholic faith as a member of Our Lady of Grace and St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. She enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo, watching the Lawrence Welk Show and listening to old time music. She enjoyed dancing and visiting with her friends and family. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Betty's loving family includes her children, Kris (June) Spaulding, Carrie Spaulding, Kathryn (Scott Wherley) Spaulding, Corrine Spaulding, all of Minot and Kevin (Beth) Spaulding, Bismarck, ND; 12 grandchildren, Jaime Stevenson, Kris Spaulding, Shawn Olson, Angie (Jamie) Chitolile, Chad Olson and Allison (Scott) Olson, Jonah (Jacie) Lantto, Chelsey (Chris) Hawkins and Carly Lantto, Jeremy (Candy Wormsbecker and daughter, Chloe Heinze) Jacobson, Krista (Michael Balensiefer) Jacobson and Jayden Wherley, Spencer Spaulding, Daisha (Justin) Gillmore, Sarah Oliver, Jerry "Benjamin" Carroll and Erica Dalen; 25 great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Amarah Stevenson, Joshua Hell, Taylor and Khloe Spaulding, Emily, Elizabeth and Patience Olson, Melia Chitolile, Justice Miller, Jordan Olson, Jase, Tyrion and Teailanna Lantto, Lyric and Aria Hawkins, Savannah Goodin, Jerra B. Gillmore and Jaxon Gillmore, Gage, Gracey and Garrison Oliver and Lorraina and Dillah Carroll; sisters, MaDonna Ennis, Williston, ND, Doreen (Larry) Wilson, Great Falls, MT and Peggy (Jesse) Owen, Sterling, CO; brothers, Jack (Tillie) Lawson, Minot and Curtis (Kathy) Lawson, Donnybrook, ND; aunt, Maxine Perron, Mohall, ND; sister-in-law, Ione Lawson, Minot; brother-in-law, Doug Maynard, Thief River Falls, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Paul Spaulding, grandson, Jerry Benjamin Carroll, sister, Marlene Maynard, brothers, Gene, Gordon and James'Buzz' Lawson, sister-in-law, Phyllis Lawson and brother-in-law, Jim Ennis.

Mass of Christian Burial : 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Recitation of the Rosary: 5:30 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, January 3, 2016, from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to a local organization concerned with the treatment of diabetes and cancer.
