Obituary

Betty Jane Kaylor, 79, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, in her home with her husband by her side, whom she had shared her life with for the past 61 years, and her loving family.

Betty was born March 29, 1938 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Daisy (Bowen-Lade) Hoelscher. She was raised and educated at Foxholm, until the death of her mother, when she moved to Nebraska to live with her sister, Mabel.

Betty returned to Minot, where she was employed for Minot Telephone, that's how Joseph and Betty connected for the first time. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kaylor on July 14th 1956 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. The new couple moved 9 miles west of Bantry to Harrington Ranch where they lived for five years. In 1961, Joe and Betty purchased their home in Bantry, where they raised their 6 children. The Kaylor home always had an open door welcoming friends and family.

Betty loved to keep busy, whether it was canning, quilting, crocheting or crafts. This led to her longtime dream of opening her own craft shop called "Memories", which was opened in Bantry in the late 1980's. Her doors were always open to many people and she shared her life through the projects she made.

Her loving family includes : husband of 61 years, Joseph; children: Gary (Carolee) Kaylor, Upham; Virgil (Susan) Kaylor, Granville; Tim (Deanna) Kaylor, Minot; Elizabeth (Cory) Bercier, Bottineau; Jonathan Kaylor, Bantry; and Sarah Kaylor, Bantry; 13 Grandchildren: Amy Kaylor, Becky Kaylor, James Kaylor, Kylie (Britt) O'Neal, Kaycee Kaylor, Kyler Kaylor, Claudette (Ken) Mitz, Bobbi (Jeremiah) Kuhnhenn, Fallon Opstedal, Kyle Opstedal, Lindsey (Kouadjo) Bini, Matthew Huwe, Andrew Huwe; 10 great grandchildren: Tripp Kaylor, Chaysin O'Neal, Teal O'Neal, Brooke Bailey, Destin Mitz, Brock Bailey, Jersey Mitz, Blair Kuhnhenn, Kelsy Prellwitz, Madison Prellwitz; sister: Ann (Al) Jundt, Minot; brother: Ernie (Shirley) Hoelscher, Foxholm; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Albert, George Jr., Augustus, Mabel, Marie, Stella and Ella.

Prairie Funeral/ Graveside Service: Friday, September 8, 2017 at 2:00p.m. in the Bantry Cemetery. The funeral is open to the public and there will be a reception afterwards at the American Legion Hall in Upham.

Visitation: At her request, there will not be a reviewal, however friends and family can sign the memorial register book on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 3:00 -6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Bantry Union Cemetery or Heart of America Medical Center Hospice, Rugby, ND.
