Betty Jane Frick, 91, Minot, formerly of the Flaxton and Newburg areas, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born May 21, 1925 at Bowbells, North Dakota the daughter of John and Gladys (Marks) Peterson. She was raised and educated at Northgate, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school in 1943. She attended Minot State Teachers College and received her standard teaching certificate.
Betty taught at country schools in Burke County before she was united in marriage to Richard Frick on October 15, 1945 at Plentywood, Montana. They made their home in Northgate and Flaxton, where she was employed with the US Post Office in Flaxton. They moved to Newburg in 1979, where she became Postmaster for the Postal service and served that community until retiring in 1990.
They moved to Minot in 1997. Richard died February 8, 2012. Betty continued to live in Minot. She was a former member of the United Lutheran Churches in Flaxton, a 4-H leader for several years and had been active with the Homemaker's Club of Northgate. She was also a member of the Postal Workers Association.
Betty enjoyed cooking and baking, along with golfing, gardening, knitting, crocheting, painting and line dancing. She was very active with the Minot Family YMCA, where she participated in a morning water aerobics class and a spin class. She was also a volunteer at various places, but especially enjoyed the Norsk Hostfest.
Her loving family includes , children, Judy Frick, Jacksonville Beach, FL, Jeannie (Calvin) Kalmbach, Flaxton, ND and Dick (Joyce) Frick, Braham,MN; daughter-in-law, Sandra Frick, Bozeman, MT, 7 grandchildren to include, Jeff (Agnieszka) Frick, Traci (Michael) Leslie, Todd (Melady) Frick, Casey (Kristin) Frick, Renee (Michael) Delaney, Dennis Frick and Shawn Kalmbach; great grandchildren: Bryce, Tyson, Montana, Jack, Marek, Leo, Liberty, Zosia, Lincoln, and Lewis, sister, Beverly Schneider, Eagle Creek, OR ,sisters-in-law Agnes Peterson, Minot, Agnes Frick,Watford City.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Thomas and brothers, Raymond and Robert Peterson.
Memorial Service:
Friday, July 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flaxton Memorial Hall, Flaxton, ND.
