Obituary

Betty Ann Anderson, 80, Minot died on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on November 5, 1929 in McGregor, North Dakota to Reuben and Evva (Barden) Olson. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1948.

Betty married Henry Anderson on September 15, 1951 in the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Minot. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Sparta, Wisconsin while Henry was stationed at Camp McCoy. Betty returned to Minot while Henry was stationed in Korea. Betty and Hank raised their family of five children in Havre, MT for ten years before settling in Minot.

Betty was employed at Minot Drug and North Hill Food for a number of years and in the Home Health Care Assistance Program for the Elderly under the auspices of Ward County Social Services. Along with her devotion to her family, some of Betty's other passions included taking care of her beautiful flowers and yard, watching the blue jays, going to yard sales, and having telephone conversations with her family and friends.

Betty's children will remember her as a caring, cheerful person whose wit and charm were part of her everyday life. Never one to complain, Betty spent most of her conversations with her children listening to what was on their mind. Friendly, engaging and spirited was her way of sharing a piece of her life with those she touched. Betty was the most selfless woman you could ever know. The love she had for her family was shown countless times daily.

The words sacrifice, love, and caring remind us of what we were fortunate to experience everyday with our mother. Her unconditional love and acceptance of her family throughout her life provided us with a foundation to continue her legacy for many years to come. We are truly blessed to have been nurtured in such a warm and loving environment which she created.

Betty's loving family includes her husband of 58 years Henry "Hank" Anderson; children: Bill Anderson of St. Paul, MN, Kristy Ann Peterson of Minot, Richard (Laurie) Anderson of Naperville IL, Vicki (Michael) Frank of Minot and David (Jenna) Anderson of Allen, TX; grandchildren: Tate, Gracie, Katie, Sidney and Missy; great grandchildren: Taylor, Zachary, Kobe, and Nicholas; sister: Doretta Barden of Santa Cruz, CA; brother-in-law: Robert "Bob" Esterby; sisters-in-law: Marvonne Olson, Mary Olson, and Ardis Olson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Lou Esterby, and brothers, Nick, Bob, and Jim Olson.
