Bertha V. Kukich, 87, Minot, formerly of Anamoose, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Bertha was born December 21, 1921 in Antelope Lake Township of Pierce County, North Dakota, the daughter of Mone and Katie (Blitva) Kukich. She was raised and educated in the Anamoose area until the family moved to California. Throughout much of her adult years, she lived in the San Francisco area, where she was employed by the City of San Francisco as a clerk.
After retiring, she returned to North Dakota. She had entered Trinity Homes in September of 2006. Bertha was a member of the Catholic faith. She had developed a hardiness while living on the Dakota Plains. She used that trait by swimming regularly in the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay and by going on frequent hikes in the mountains of California with the Sierra Club.
Her loving family includes: nephew, Paul Kukich Jr of Sacremento, CA, nieces, Jacklin Pontarelli of Central Coast, CA, Carol Thornton of Bakersfield, CA and Glenda Berman of LaCanada, CA; great-nieces, Kelly Taylor and Leslie Thornton; sister in law, Betty Kukick of Las Vegas, NV.
Bertha was preceded in death by her brothers, Mike Paul Jr, Johnnie, and Peter; sisters, Mildred, Mary, Margaret and Kathryn.
Funeral Mass
: Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot.
Interment:
Later in the spring of 2009, Anamoose, ND.
Visitation
: One hour prior the service in the Nursing Home.
