Bernice Della-Marie Hanson, 80, Minot and formerly of the Mott area died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 in a Minot hospital.

Bernice was born on December 12, 1936 on a farm near Burt, North Dakota to Jerome and Margaret (Reichart) Hellman. She was reared on the family farm and attended St. Placidas Rural School prior to graduating from Mott High School in 1956.

Bernice married Ron Hanson on August 28, 1956 at St. Placidas Catholic Church near Mott, ND. They made their home in Minot where she was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. After her children were in school she was employed by Rehab Services, Minot Public Library as a bookmobile driver for five years and by Anderson Dakota Paint and Glass for seventeen years. She retired in 1997 to care for her husband Ron who died on November 6, 2004.

Bernice was a former member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and was currently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was active as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher and in Cecelia's Altar Guild and the Food Pantry. Also, she was a pastoral care volunteer at Trinity Nursing Home and Edgewood Vista, realized a lifelong dream when she toured the Vatican in 2006 and enjoyed volunteering at the Sonshine Catholic Youth Camp at Lake Metigoshe. Bernice especially enjoyed gardening in her free time.

Bernice's loving family includes her sons: LuAlan (Leann) Hanson of Minot and Leon (Paulette) Hanson of Cannon Falls, MN; grandchildren: BreeAnna (Cole) Ritter, Reid Hanson (fiancee Danielle Feist) Meghann (Jake) Winchell, Gavin (Jamie) Hanson and Mackenzie Hanson; great grandchildren: Olive, Avery, Lola and Presley; siblings: Edward Hellman, Victor Hellman, Gerald Hellman, Katherine Helfrich, Sandra Olson, Irene Wenger, Mike Hellman and Pam Stanton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson: Brett and siblings: Vanita, Katherine, Selma, Floyd and Donny.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service and Recitation of the Rosary: Saturday at 8:15 a.m. in the church.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Minot Public Library Children's Area or the Sonshine Catholic Youth Camp at Lake Metigoshe C/O Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
