Benton Myers, 88, Berthold, died Monday, March 20, 2017 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Benton was born February 8, 1929 the son of Harvey and Estella (Benton) Myers. He was raised on the family farm south of Berthold and educated at country schools in that area.

Benton was united in marriage to Darlene Gunderson on June 28, 1950 at Lakewood Park Bible Camp near Devils Lake, ND. They made their home in various places, including Ryder, before settling on a farm west of Berthold. Along with raising their five sons, Benton and Darlene farmed and ranched there throughout the years. In 1972 Benton became one of the first Vermeer dealers for baler and baler parts in North Dakota.

Benton was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church, Minot. His hobbies and interests included tinkering around with old cars and pickups and feeding and tending to his cats. Family was everything to him. He loved his kids and grandkids and was an awesome dad, grandpa and father-in-law.

Benton's loving family includes , wife of 66 years, Darlene; sons, Garth Myers, Minot, Kevin (Judy) Myers, Minot, Kalvin (Shawna) Myers, Carpio, Kurt (Michele) Myers, Berthold; daughter-in-law, Laurel Myers, Minot; 10 grandchildren, Danielle (James) Wilson, Jesse (Selena) Myers, Adria (Charlie) Carson, Chelsie (Mike) Hultz, Dustin (Nicole) Myers, Dana Saunders, Amber Myers, Chase Myers (fiance Casey Backhaus), Christa Myers (fiance Trent Lowery) and Connor Myers; 12 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; siblings, Mabel Albertson, Surrey, Ruth Borgen, Eau Claire, WI, Harrison (Joan) Myers, Tagus, Donald "Dutch" (Maxine) Myers, Minot, Ruby (Loren) Podruchny, Tacoma, WA, Marlin "Slim" (June) Myers, Berthold, Lowell (Betty) Myers, Carpio; sister-in-law, Vicky Myers, Velva; brother-in-law, Andy Gunderson, Berthold; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Benton was preceded in death by his parents; son, Garlan Myers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rolland (Donna Rae) Myers, Alvin (Doris) Myers, William (Vivian) Myers; brothers, Lehman and Raymond; sister, Jeannette Gunderson, brothers-in-law, George Borgen and Gaillord Albertson.

Funeral service: Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:30 pm in First Assembly of God Church, Minot.

Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND

Visitation: Thursday, March 23rd from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
