Obituary

Benjamin Michael Long, 73, Minot, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 in a Minot Healthcare Center surrounded by his family.

Benjamin was born August 11, 1944 at Utica, New York the son of Benjamin A. and Laura Long. He was raised and educated in New York and entered into active duty service with the U.S. Air Force in 1962. He honorably served his country at various places throughout the United States including the Minot Air Force Base, where he retired in September of 1983.

Benjamin was united in marriage to May Tonosky on January 15, 1966 at Alliance, Ohio. From this union two children were born, Laura and Michael. After retiring from the Air Force, Benjamin was employed at the Minot Post Office, where he worked as a clerk for more than 16 years.

He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He also loved watching his favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills and baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers.

His loving family includes , wife of 51 years, May Long of Minot; daughter, Laura Long-Schloer, Bismarck, son, Michael (Tanya) Long, Bismarck, five grandchildren, Emily and Jesse Schloer & Zachary, Kennedy and Kaitlyn Long; along with his beloved cat, Princess.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gilbert and sister, Sharon Long.

At his request there will not be a Public service. However, friends may sign a memorial register book on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
