Beatrice Marion Nelson, 84, Velva, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Souris Valley Care Center.

Beatrice was born March 25, 1928 on the family farm south of Butte, North Dakota the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth (Tkachenko) Fedorenko. She attended rural country schools near Butte, ND and graduated from Butte High School in 1945. She then attended Minot Business College that fall.

Beatrice was united in marriage to Earl R. Nelson on January 3, 1946 in Butte, Montana. They made their home on her parents' farm for four years, and later moved to the Sven Oscar Nelson homestead farm south of Velva in 1950. They purchased the farm in 1953, where they farmed throughout the years, along with raising ranch minks for seven years. Beatrice and Earl traveled to Arizona for the winter for six years. Earl died August 24, 1995. Beatrice entered the Souris Valley Care Center in June of 2014.

Beatrice was a member of the Evangelical Church at Butte, where she taught Sunday School. After the Church closed, she along with her husband and family attended the Velva Nazarene Church. She later attended the Sawyer Nazarene Church. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, music, raising chickens, ducks and geese along with traveling. She enjoyed and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.

Her loving family includes , children, Gayle Martinson, Velva, Darlene (Richard) Ritter, Venturia, ND, Curtis (Diana) Nelson, Velva; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, son-in- law, Galen Martinson, brother, Raymond Fedorenko, sister, Geraldine Goebel.

Graveside service: Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Velva Community Cemetery.

Visitation: At her request there will not be a viewing, however friends may sign the memorial register book on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot

Memorials are preferred to Valley View Manor, Velva.
