Obituary

Barry Wendell Ingerson , 73, Minot, formerly of Flaxton, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Barry was born March 23, 1936 at Flaxton, North Dakota, the son of Fletcher and Julia (Hedstrup) Ingerson. He was raised on the family farm near Flaxton and educated there, graduating from Flaxton High School in 1952. He furthered his education at the Tacoma, WA Vocational & Technical School, the Bottineau School of Forestry and NDSU in Fargo, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Barry was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers where he assisted with construction engineering jobs in the Minot Air Force Base and the Garrison Dam.

Barry was united in marriage to Marlys Bremseth on December 28, 1959 at Devils Lake. They made their home at Riverdale, where they continued their work with the Army Corps. Barry played in various bands in and around the area. In 1961, they moved to Minot, where he began work with the North Dakota Department of Transportation, working out of the Minot office for over thirty-six years, until retiring in 1998 as the assistant District Engineer.

Barry enjoyed playing basketball and was a charter member of the Minot YMCA. He participated in basketball through the YMCA and Minot Recreation Commission. He was a member of the Musicians Union, playing in several bands over 50 years. He expressed his passion for music through his guitars, most notably the steel guitar.

His loving family includes; wife of fifty years, Marlys; children, Kelly (Dawn) Ingerson of Fargo, Jeff Ingerson of Bottineau, Tim (Cheryl) Ingerson of Minot; grandchildren: Kcarie, Brandon, Alyssa, Amanda,
Alexander; brother LaVerne (Gail) Ingerson of Flaxton; sister-in-law: Elsie Ingerson of Kenmare; several nieces and nephews.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and brother, Sidney.

Funeral service : Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00pm in Trinity Church, 3500 4th St SW, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation : Friday from 2:00-5:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
Memorials are preferred to Hospice, the Minot Family YMCA, Youth for Christ or an organization of the donor's choice.
