Obituary

Barbara Joyce Steenerson , 76, Minot, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in a Minot hospital.

Barbara was born on June 6, 1940, the eldest daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Hedman) Anderson in Drayton, ND. She was raised and educated in the Drayton area and graduated from Drayton High School in 1958. Following graduation, she attended Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in September of 1958.

Barbara married Roger D. Steenerson on May 11, 1963 in Drayton, ND. Their union was blessed with a daughter and son. They made their home in Grand Forks until moving to Minot in 1974.

Barbara was employed by the Carpenters Union in Grand Forks and Minot for several years, working as the Apprenticeship Coordinator for them in Minot. She was a bookkeeper for Minot Building and Construction Trades Council for a number of years until becoming a licensed insurance agent, working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota at the Minot branch. She worked for Coldwell Banker, 1st Minot Realty and was the office manager for Broker's "12", Real Estate Marketing until retiring in June of 2000.

Barbara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. Barbara enjoyed golf, reading, computing and especially spending time with her loved ones. The family would like to thank all the staff and residents of The View and Minot Health & Rehab for the love and care given to Barbara over the years.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Patrick) Schmidt; son, Brian (Leanne) Steenerson, both of Minot; grandchildren, Tyler and Shane Steenerson, both of Minot; sisters, Faye Roberson, Crestline, CA, JoAnn (Joe) Murphy, Gold Cannon, AZ and Tammy (Wayne) Egeland, Grafton, ND and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger, and an infant sister.

Funeral Service: Friday, August 5th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
