Barbara J. "Barb" Busek, 79, Minot, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 in a Minot Healthcare Center.
Barb was born August 11, 1928, at Minot, ND, the daughter of Stanley and Leola (Edwards) Laskowski. She was raised on the family farm in McKinley Township of Ward County and attended country schools in Eureka and McKinley Townships. Barb graduated from Minot High School in 1946 and received her standard teaching certificate from Minot State College.
She taught at rural schools in Waterford and McKinley Townships for four years prior to being united in marriage to Albert Busek on March 3, 1951 at Minot. Following their marriage, they made their home in McKinley Township of Ward County until moving to Minot in 1991.
Barb was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot, where she taught Sunday School and was active with the Women's Circle Group. She was a member of the McKinley Township Homemaker's Group and Eureka-McKinley Township Farmers Union. She had done volunteer work at the Faith United Methodist Food Pantry, was a 4-H leader and member of the Minot Moose Lodge Women's Auxiliary.
Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing and gardening, and especially enjoyed her flowers and vegetables.
Her loving family includes : her husband of fifty-six years, Albert; Children: Don Busek, Detroit, MI, Gary Busek, Lincoln, Neb., Bonnie (Don) Del Greco, Sandstone, MN and Kent (Corinne) Busek, Fargo, ND; Grandchildren: Dan Busek, Mandy Pine, Mark & Ben Del Greco, Cade, Katherine and Carson Busek; Great-Grandchildren: Jade Busek & Brett Thorne; Sister: Judy (Frank) Flom, Minot; Brother: Jim Laskowski of Washington State.
Sister-in-law: Jean Laskowski, Minot and Brother-in-law: Francis Bivins, Minot.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert, Richard and Stanley and a sister: Joan Bivins.
Funeral service
: Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation
: Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
