Arthur Valentine Richter , 76, Minot, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 on arrival at a Minot hospital.
Art was born June 7, 1940 at Harvey, North Dakota, the son of Peter and Ludvina (Kiefer) Richter. He was raised and educated at Selz and Willow City. He enlisted with the US Navy in 1959 and served his country until he received his honorable discharge in 1963.
Art was united in marriage to Rozann Kerzmann on July 7, 1964 at Garrison. The family made their home in Minot in 1964, where he became employed in civil service at the Minot Air Force Base in the Heating Plant until retiring in 1995. During his 30 years of working at the base he made many lifelong friendships that he treasured dearly.
During his lifetime, carpentry was a passion of Art's. He was the mastermind in building many family projects and houses for himself and his children. From his family he earned the title of "Boss and Foreman" but he truly was a "Jack of All Trades."
Art was a longtime member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. He was also a member of the Minot VFW Post #753 and Knights of Columbus organization. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing and spending time at the lake gave him great joy, but the time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren meant the most to him.
His loving family includes , wife of 51 years, Rozann Richter, Minot; children, Peter (Cheryl) Richter, Marla (Jeff) Bonebrake, and Carey (Stephen) Walter, all of Minot; ten grandchildren, Jordyn, Koral and Reese Richter; Jack, Thea, Lily and Benn Bonebrake; Jake, Kelsy and Joby Walter; sister, Marlene (John) Deck, Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law, Dennis Bender, Yakima, WA and several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eunice Bender.
Mass of Christian Burial
: Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Rosary Recitation:
Monday, June 13th at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Monday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Trinity's Cardiac Rehab Center, St Leo's Catholic Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
