Arnold Bernard Osadchy , 81, longtime Gasman Township farmer died on Saturday August 11, 2007 in his home from complications related to a heart condition and emphysema.
Arnold was born on April 14, 1926 on the family farm in Rushville Township of Ward County north of Max, North Dakota to Nazar and Mary (Paul) Osadchy. He was reared on the family farm, attended rural schools and graduated from Max High School in 1943. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm prior to being inducted into the U.S. Army on September 21, 1950. He received his honorable discharge as a corporal on September 23, 1952. Arnold married Donna Bauer on October 21, 1951 in Colorado Springs CO. They began farming in Rushville Township in 1952 and purchased their current farm in Gasman Township of Ward County in 1958 where they raised small grains and cattle. In addition, he was employed as a security guard for area missile sites and at Minot Livestock Auction. He continued farming as health permitted with his son Rick who continues to operate the family farm.
Arnold was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church- Minot and a former member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church - Max. He was a member of the Farmers Union and Moose Lodge and especially enjoyed reading and hunting.
Arnold's loving family includes his wife of 55 years Donna, Children: Tamara (David) Garner of Max ND, Rick Osadchy of rural Max ND, Michelle (Ronald) Beaver of Mead CO, Jana (Jeffrey) Rub of Norfolk NE, Taresa "Tari" (Jeff) Azure of Menoken ND and Colleen (Daniel) Ebach of Lincoln ND; Sixteen Grandchildren; Six Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Florence Melchoir of San Bernardino CA, Frances Scroggs of Colton CA, Barbara Osadchy and Audrey Rydberg both of Minot; brothers: Paul and Amil "Johnny" Osadchy of Max and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Lucille Kalamaha, Anneale Schwalbe and Margaret Baugh and brothers: Joseph, Andrew and Vincent Osadchy.
Mass of Christian Burial:
Thursday August 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service:
Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside Service:
Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery - rural Mandan.
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
