Arnold "Arnie" Allen Miller, 83, Minot, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Arnie was born December 15, 1932 at Anamoose, North Dakota the son of William and Martha (Heydt) Miller. He was raised and educated in the Drake and Kief area. He graduated from Drake High School in 1950. During his younger years, he was employed for a short time with Elchorn Implement as the parts manager in Drake.
Arnie was united in marriage to Louise Checkwick on January 16, 1951 at Minot. They made their home in Minot until 1954, when he began employment with Westlie Motor Company in the office and later worked in the sales department. The family moved to Burlington in 1956, where they lived until 1976 and moved to Sawyer, living there until 2002, when they returned to Minot. Arnie retired in 1992.
Arnie was a longtime member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot. He was a former member of the Des Lacs Methodist Church, where he had served as a trustee for the congregation. He enjoyed playing softball, traveling, fishing and hunting, along with watching Minnesota Twins and Viking ball games and watching western movies.
Arnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Miller, Minot; children, Charles (Diane) Miller, Sawyer, ND, James (Debra) Miller, Glasston, ND and Laurie (Kevin) Iverson, Mansfield, TX; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Private family Service will take place at Vincent Methodist Church, Minot.
At his request, there will not be any viewing, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Tuesday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Vincent United Methodist Church or the Souris Valley Care Center of Velva.
