Arnold Jost, 91, Burlington died on Wednesday March 18, 2020 in a Minot hospital.

Arnold Elmer Jost was born on August 28, 1928 on the Jost farm and ranch six miles northwest of Grassy Butte, ND to Elmer and Barbara (Kowis) Jost. He was raised on the family farm and ranch and educated at the Rhodes Country School. As a young adult he was employed on a seismograph crew for several years and was a truck driver for Maas Transport of Williston. Arnold enlisted in the Army National Guard on January 16, 1951 in Dickinson. He was stationed at Camp Rucker, AL for basic training and Camp Polk, LA and Fort Hood, TX where he served as an instructor teaching new recruits how to handle and shoot the M1 Rifle. He received his honorable discharge as a Corporal on December 17, 1952.

Arnold married Patricia O'Brien of the Belfield and Grassy Butte areas of North Dakota on August 22, 1953. They made their first home on the Jost Ranch. For the next ten years Arnold and Patsy lived in various places including Grassy Butte, Williston, Watford City, Belfield and Bowbells. They moved to Burlington in 1964 where they established and operated Jost Cement Company hauling bulk cement to redi- mix plants. They sold the company to their son Brian in 1996. Also, they started farming in the Burlington area in the 1980's and continued until their retirement in the fall of 2010. They started traveling south during the winter months starting in the late 1970's and continued to do that until 2019. They owned winter homes in Salome, AZ and Lake Havasu City, AZ. Patricia died on April 16, 2017.

Arnold was a member of Peace Lutheran Church - Burlington and Burlington Friendly Senior Citizens. His hobbies and special interests included travel to Arizona and California, attending bluegrass music festivals and music jams. But most of all he enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending the sporting events and activities of his great grandchildren.

Arnold's loving family includes his children: Curt Allen (Darla) Jost of Burlington, Jacqueline Sue (Gregg) Blikre of Gillette WY and Brian Dale Jost (Kari Jo Sauer) of Coleharbor; son-in-law: Larry Huizenga of Minot; grandchildren: Cari (Cory) Olson, Daniel (Kristi) Jost, Kelly (Lucas) Blikre-Howell, Shawn Huizenga (Katlyn Nogosek), Sara Huizenga (Shayne Lunki), Dustin Jost (Erika Landro), Lacey Jost and Jay Jost; great grandchildren: Kayli and Rylan Olson, Gunnar and Halle Jost, Jack Howell, Emmett Huizenga and Hunter Jost; siblings: Clarence (Roberta) Jost of Hettinger, Gwen Sauvageau of Dickinson and Elda Faye Solberg of Phoenix; in-laws: Donna Jost of Williston, Dixie Jost of Everett WA and Birdie O'Brien of Billings and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Patricia; daughter: Rhonda Huizenga; grandson: Marc Blikre; siblings: Evelyn (Kenneth) Medlang, Wesley Jost, Leone (Raymond) Carson, Blaine Jost; in-laws: Jack (Laura) O'Brien, Kathleen (Emil) Sauvageau, Ruby O'Brien, Lucille (Al) Schichel, Joyce (Edward) Bollong, Don (Rose) O'Brien and Pat O'Brien.

Celebration of the Life of Arnold Jost: Private (due to the Coronavirus Pandemic Restrictions) at the Peace Lutheran Church- Burlington. The service can be viewed at www.mtmsales.net/live for two weeks starting on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Burlington Township Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Ward County Historical Society Pioneer Village in Burlington or the Burlington Friendly Senior Citizens and may be mailed to 510 Colton Ave. - Burlington, ND 58722.
