Obituary

Arnold E. Grueneberg, 87, Minot, and former longtime Waterford Township farmer, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Arnold was born December 26, 1920 on the family farm in Waterford Township of Ward County, North Dakota, the son of Emil and Martha (Bartz) Grueneberg. He was raised and educated in that area and entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in February of 1945. He honorably served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre of the War.

Following his discharge in December of1946, Arnold was united in marriage to Valeria Tripp June 24, 1953. They made their home on the family farm in Waterford Township, where they farmed throughout the years. They moved to Minot in 1990. Val died November 14, 1997. Arnold entered Trinity Nursing Home in 2006, where he has since resided.

Arnold was a lifetime member of Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Minot, where he and Val were active in a number of capacities within the church. Arnold enjoyed gardening, reading his Bible, being active with church activities, along with playing cards with his friends.

His loving family includes : Son: James (Debbie) Grueneberg, Minot; Daughter: Marie Bercegeay, Gonzales, LA; Grandchildren: Melissa (Jon) VanDeventer, Michelle Grueneberg and Michael (Laura) Grueneberg; Great-Grandchildren: Marcus, Lucas and Mikhal, Carson and Madison; Sisters: Margaret New, Michigan and Alma Valgren, Minot; Brother: Leo Grueneberg, Minot.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Bernhard and Robert, and an infant sister: Leona.

Funeral service: Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Homes, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Friday from 3:00p.m - 7:00pm. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Minot.
