Arnold Leon Goldade, 72, Des Lacs, died Saturday May 9, 2026, in his family friend’s home in Berthold.

Arnie was born August 4, 1953, to Ferdinand “Fred” and Annie (Heilman) Goldade in Harvey, ND.

Arnie grew up on the family farm in Karlsruhe, ND. Throughout his time in school, he worked at the A.T Bryd Ranch milking cows. Arnie graduated from Karlsruhe in 1973, and shortly after moved to Minot to work for Kraft Builders. He rented a farmstead southeast of Minot to start his feedlot business. In 1987, Arnie had an opportunity to buy Osteroos ranch south of Des Lacs, where he moved his 286 cattle. He was known to sell meat to many in the northwest part of the state. Arnie enjoyed every part of owning a lot, from working with the cattle to welding new hanging panels. Arnie once had his feed lot up to 1,187 cattle before having to sell out due to health issues. Arnie loved B.S with people, and everywhere he went he made lifelong friends. He was always giving someone a jingle and asking what the “good word was.’

Arnie enjoyed having coffee down at the Makoti Cenex and going down to the casino to press his luck (really, we know just to check in on the friends he met down there).

Arnie loved to work hard and did it with great pride, even when he got sick.

Arnie is survived by brother, Dennis Goldade; sisters, Ruth (Steven) Geyer, and sister Karen (Philip) Helmers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; good friends Derrick and Wanda Deaver, Cashley Brown, Brock and Carly, Nash, and Jack Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elaine Lemer and sister-in-law Eileen Goldade.

Visitation: Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Berthold.
Burial will take place Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Karlsruhe.
