Arlyss Ione Elston , 101, Minot, formerly of Granville, died Thursday, June 27, 2024 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Arlyss was born on March 31, 1923, in Granville, ND the daughter of Sidney and Gertie (Peterson) Cook. She was raised and educated in Granville graduating from Granville High School in 1942.
Arlyss was united in marriage to Alfred Elston on March 1, 1948, in Phoenix, AZ. They made their home in the Granville/Norwich area, where they farmed for the next 50 years and were blessed with the birth of a daughter. In addition to her duties as a fulltime wife and mother, she was employed as a cook at the Moose Lodge in Minot for many years. They enjoyed a lifetime of traveling together in their RV throughout the United States and Canada, exploring many sites and attractions.
She was a former member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was active in their women's circle for many years.
Alfred died in 1993. Arlyss became a resident of Trinity Homes in 2016. Our family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Trinity Homes for the excellent and loving care provided to Arlyss during her time as a resident.
Her loving family includes daughter, Sharon Davis, Minot; grandson, Laramie (Cassie) Davis, Minot; great grandchildren, Keira and Jesse Davis; brother Milo Cook, Lancaster, CA along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlyss was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, Alfred and sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Loran Hanson.
Graveside Service:
11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot.
