Arlene J. Hanson, 88, Minot, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at an assisted living facility.
Arlene was born May 31, 1930 in Kramer, ND to Henry and Josephine (Keck) Thiel. She grew up in Kramer and graduated from Kramer High School in 1947. She was employed for a couple of years by First National Bank in Minot.
Arlene was united in marriage to George Hanson on December 5, 1948 in Kramer, ND. They have resided in various places throughout North Dakota while George worked as a construction electrician. Lake Metigoshe was home for seven years until retiring to Minot in the late 1990's.
Arlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active in Hannah's Circle for many years.
Arlene enjoyed a variety of activities that ranged from traveling and golfing to bowling. She enjoyed time in the outdoors with a fishing line in the water or at home doing needlework or crocheting projects with her hands.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, George Hanson, Minot; children, Rick (Cheryl) Hanson, Bismarck, ND and Bonnie (Merle) Baisch, Minot; grandchildren, Suzanne (Jason) Kenner, Sommer Kennedy, Craig (Melissa) Hanson, Blake (Alyssa) Hanson and Jennifer (Nick) Boehm; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Brynleigh and Kaden Kennedy, Kendall Kenner, Kaitlyn and Kendall Hanson, Brooks Hanson and Steele Boehm; brother, Melvin (Betty) Thiel, Rugby, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lawrence Thiel and his wife Lois.
Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery to be held in the Spring of 2019
Visitation: Friday, February 22, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
