Obituary

Arlene Delores Avery , 93, Minot, died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in a Minot assisted living center.

Arlene Thingvold was born on December 18, 1930 at Columbus, ND, the daughter of Elvin and Elsie (Peterson) Thingvold. She was raised and educated at Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1949. She moved to Minot in 1949 and was employed at Union National Bank and Bridgeman Creamery for several years.

Arlene was united in marriage to Marvin Avery on May 20, 1953 in Helena, Montana. Following their marriage, they made their home in Minot, where along with raising their two children, she was employed with First National Bank (later Wells Fargo) for 27 years as a bank teller and secretary in the loan department. She retired in 1987. She and Marv continued to make Minot their home, most recently moving into Edgewood Vista. Marv died September 6, 2024.

Arlene was a longtime member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and it's Priscilla Circle Group. She had also served the Church as a deacon and elder. She did volunteer work for the Hostfest. She enjoyed traveling, doing embroidery work, tending to her garden, especially her flowers, along with reading and going to aerobics class.

Her loving family includes, daughter, Michelle (David) Robinson; grandchildren, Emily (Wade) Christensen, Brian (Laurel) Robinson, Jordan Avery & Katie Avery; great-grandchildren, Cay and Collin Christensen; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 71 years, Marvin; son, Monte; sisters, Amanda Gronvold, Helen Huwe, Ruby Watterud, Hilda Tveter, Ella Peterson, Evelyn Vendsel, Phyllis Thingvold and brother, Elmer.

Joint Celebration of Life service for Arlene and Marv: Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
