Obituary

Areta Ruth Keller, 76, Minot died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in a Minot hospital following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Areta was born on August 18, 1936 in Butler, Missouri to Curtis and Ruth (Pearson) Burrows. She was reared and attended school there and in Pennsylvania, Canton, IL and Minot where she graduated from Minot High School in the Class of 1954. She pursued a medical secretary degree in Minneapolis, MN and was employed at a clinic in the Minneapolis area for one year. She returned to Minot where she continued her education at Minot State University. After attending college, she worked at the Medical Arts Clinic for five years.

Areta married James A. Keller on August 7, 1960 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where they were blessed with three beautiful children. She was a devoted wife and mother and assisted her husband and son in the operation of Northwest Projector until her retirement.

Areta was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church - Minot and Souris Valley Ladies Golf Association. She was passionate about spending time with her family and loved an afternoon of shopping. Areta was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golfing with her friends at Souris Valley Golf Course. One of her personal highlights was a hole-in-one recorded on April 28, 1994 on hole number 8 at SVGC.

Areta's loving family includes her husband of 52 years James; children: Lee (Wendy) Keller of Minot; Marla Keller (Borna Mozafari) of San Diego CA and Mora Keller (Valdemar M. Carvajal) of Chula Vista CA; grandchildren: Isabella, Sholeh and Shayan; step grandchildren: Taylor and Mattie and several cousins.

Areta was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Ruth Burrows.

Celebration of the Life of Areta Keller: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church - Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.at Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials: Preferred to the Wee Links Golf Course or the donor's choice.
