Obituary

Ardella Brandt, 89, Minot, formerly of the Kief and Butte areas, died Thursday, July 1, 2021, in a Garrison hospital.

Ardella was born March 8, 1932, in Minot, ND to George A. and Nora E. (Demchuk) Michalenko. She spent the years of her youth on the farm located near Kief and received a country school education.

Ardella was united in marriage to Eugene Brandt on June 11, 1950, in Kief. They followed his military career with the Marines to Santa Ana, CA while in service to his country. They returned home to ND and lived in Kief until moving to Minot in the late 50's.

Ardella worked in service to others her entire life. She waitressed, worked in hospitality, and was a dental assistant for several years, but most important was her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ardella enjoyed time in the outdoors fishing and camping, she also did embroidery projects and went on many day trips for bingo or to the casino. She loved to spend time with her family cooking and making sure everyone was well fed often using produce she grew and harvested from her own garden.

Eugene passed away on August 18, 2019.

Ardella was a member of the Butte American Legion Auxiliary for 26 years. She was also a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Ardella is survived by her children Wanda (DeWayne) Scherr, Moffit, ND, Ronald (Kathy) Brandt, Mandan, ND and Jeffrey (Wendy) Brandt, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren Sarah (Michael) Schmitcke, Heidi (Wyatt) Kalberer, Heather (Eric) Nieuwsma, Valerie (Bryce) Weber, Blake (Tara) Feil, Landon (Brittany) Feil, Kristy Brandt, Nathan Brandt, Shelby (Ryan) Delaney and Marshall (Lucy) Williams; great grandchildren Taylor, Logan, Blake, Emma, Riley, Brecken, Brynlee, Payton, Jada, Hailey and Baby Weber (coming in July), Claire, Livia, Nicholas and Baby Feil (coming in July), Madison, Carson, Nora, Keira, Olivia, Kellan, Lily and Hannah along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ardella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Delores Parsley and Carole Anderson and brothers Ray and Virgil Michalenko.

Celebration of Ardella's Life: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Butte American Legion Hall, Butte, ND
Interment: 3:15 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Hazelton City Cemetery, Hazelton, ND
Visitation: Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and one hour prior to the start of the service at the Legion Hall in Butte.
