Ardell V. Johnson , 66, 21 1st Ave S.E. #53 Minot, died Friday, February 2, 2007 in a Bismarck Hospital.

Ardell was born August 14, 1940 at Ryder, North Dakota the son of Larry and Genevieve (Afdahl) Johnson. He was raised and educated in the Ryder area and attended country schools at Romsaas #1 School through the eighth grade. He lived at Grafton for ten years and attended Wahpeton State School of Science.

Ardell was employed at the Mayville Hospital for five years as a custodian. He moved to Franklin Park, Illinois, where he lived for thirty-six years, and was employed at Nelsen Steel working the in the shipping department. He retired in 2002 and returned to Minot in October of 2003.

Ardell was a member of the Teamster's Union and was active in the Lutheran Faith. He enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and was an avid sports fan, sharing a love for NASCAR and the Chicago Bulls and Cubs.

His loving family includes: Brothers: Darrell Johnson, Makoti, Bruce (Diane) Johnson, Minot; Sister: Karen (Joel) Anderson, Bismarck; Uncle: Ray Johnson, Bismarck, ND; Brother-in-Law: Gorlyn Wohlk; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane Wohlk, and brother, Loren Johnson and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral service : Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment : Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
Memorials are preferred to Minot Parker Senior Center.
