Anne Moen, 84, rural Foxholm, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at the original farm of her family which they homesteaded in 1886.

Anne Lenore Nelson was born October 23, 1928 to Andrew and Lena (Roiseth) Nelson on the farm homesteaded by her grandparents. She was a graduate of Carpio High School and Broadway-Edison Technical College of Seattle, Washington and worked as a medical secretary in the pathology department and as an assistant medical records librarian at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

Anne married George Moen on November 19, 1950 in Carpio, ND. They made their home on the Nelson family farm. Together they raised small grains and milked cows. They received the Ward County Soil Conservation Award in 1972, Ward County Centennial Homesteader's Award and Centennial Dairy Farm Award. George passed away on October 15, 1993. Anne continued to live on the farm.

Anne was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, serving for a time as secretary of the church council. She was also a member of the Souris Valley Women's Golf Association, Thursday Afternoon Coffee Mugs Bowling League, Northwest Polkateer's and the Women of the Moose.

Her loving family includes, sons: Steven (Jan) Moen, Burlington, ND, Jeff (Tammi) Moen, Foxholm, ND, and Mike Moen, Berthold, ND; daughter, Rebecca Holen and her companion, Jon Johnson, Foxholm, ND; grandchildren, Amber Moen, Ethan, Austin and Erica Moen, four step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, one step great-great grandchild, sisters-in-law: Florence (Hugh) Kennedy of Cheyenne WY and Ida (Joy) Heller of Berthold; brothers-in-law: Melvin (Veronica) Moen of Riverton WY and Arnie Moen of Corum MT and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gregory Norman, husband, George, brothers, Oliver and Arthur Nelson, sister, Ruth Johnson; son-in-law, Jerry Holen and numerous in-laws.

Celebration of the Life of Anne Moen: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND.
Interment: Des Lacs Valley Cemetery, rural Foxholm, ND.
Visitation: Monday, May 27, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
