Obituary

Anne Caroline Anderson, 97, Minot and formerly of Plaza and the Westhope area died on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in a Las Vegas hospice home.

Anne was born on August 15, 1914 near Plaza, North Dakota to Thorston and Hilda (Heierdahl) Baalerud. She was raised and educated in Plaza and graduated from Plaza High School in 1932. She attended Minot Teacher's College for three years and received her standard teaching certificate. She taught at a rural school near Plaza and in Columbus and Souris.

Anne married Orville M. Anderson on June 11, 1941 in Plaza. Following their marriage they lived in Landa, Glendive MT and Westhope before settling in Minot in 1959. While they were living in Westhope and Landa she also taught school.

She taught at Nedrose School from 1962 until she retired from teaching in 1974. After her retirement, she was employed as a substitute teacher. Orville died on December 6, 2008. Anne continued to reside in Minot until she moved to Las Vegas in October of 2009.

Anne was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was active in a church circle, Altar Guild and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Spring Lake Home- makers Club, ND Education Association, National Education Association, YWCA Board and Trinity Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, canning and baking- especially pies.

Anne's loving family includes her children: David (Susan) Anderson of Bismarck and Carol Anderson of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Aaron (Michelle) Anderson and Jay Anderson; great grandchildren: Alexia and Breanna Anderson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Theresa Wheeling and brothers: Arthur and Edward Baalerud.

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment will be in the Landa Cemetery.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church or Metigoshe Ministries.
