Anna Mae Melius-Kolden, 90, Minot, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007 in a Minot nursing home.
Anna Mae was born on December 15, 1916, to Sam and Edna (Kintner) Sheets. She was raised on the family homestead north of Surrey and graduated from Surrey High School. She attended a local beauty college in Minot and was the owner of the Vogue Beauty Shop which was located on Main Street in Minot.
Anna Mae married Howard Melius on June 27, 1937. They made their home in Minot where they raised their six children. After Howard's death in 1982, Anna Mae traveled to visit her children and grandchildren, puttered in her garden, and grew African violets. Anna Mae met Melvin Kolden at the Minot Senior Citizen's Center. Since they both loved to dance, they became more than dance partners and were married on July 4, 1988.
Melvin died January 10, 2005.
Anna Mae was a longtime member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and its Ladies Mission Society. She was also active in the Moose Lodge in Minot.

Hartford, CT; Daughters: Dona (Gordon) Rennie, San Antonio, TX, Sharol (Tom) Durrenberger, Niceville, FL; Daughter-in-Law: Becky (Leo) Broughton, Minot, ND; Sister: Grace Edmark, Seattle, WA; 19 Grandchildren; Many Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Step-Children: Stan Kolden, Golden Valley, MN, Dale (Shirley) Barsness, Simsbury, CT, Wayne (Linda) Barsness, Eagar, AZ.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard and Melvin, son Gary Melius, and brothers John and Joe Sheets; Daughter-in-law: Rhea (Elman) Melius.

Monday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
In lieu of flowers and plants the family prefers memorials to the Western ND Alzheimers Association or the Parkinson's Support Group of Minot.
