Anna Maria Anderson, 95, Minot and formerly of Granville, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, in a Minot nursing home.
Anna was born on October 7, 1915, to Martin and Emelia (Myre) Bjergaard on the family farm at Powers Lake, ND, where she grew up and attended school. She married Thilman (Tim) Anderson on March 26, 1945, in Minot. They made their home on the ranch in Riga Township of McHenry County until 1988, when they retired to Granville. Tim died on October 8, 2009. She was most recently a resident of Trinity Nursing Home in Minot.
Anna was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Granville and was active in its women's group, the WELCA. As one of the quilt-makers of that group, she participated in making a large number of quilts for Lutheran World Relief for many years. In her spare time, Anna enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Anna's loving family includes, her son, Alvin "Bill" (Marlys) Anderson, Tucson, AZ; grandsons: Chris (Mia) Anderson and Aaron Anderson; great-grandchildren: David and Sylvia Anderson; sisters: Myrtle Anderson, Minot, Bernice Benson, Columbus, Beulah Goebel, Burlington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clarence, John, Melfred, Milton and Magnus Bjergaard; and sister, Esther Beaton.
Funeral service
: Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Granville.
Visitation
: Monday, May 2, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment
: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Anne Carlson Center, Jamestown.
