Ann Elizabeth Turner , 86, of Memphis, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in Minot, N.D.

She was born Ann Elizabeth Jenkins on September 20, 1928 to John A. and Myrtle (Kneeland) Jenkins in the Raleigh community of Memphis, TN. In 1947 she graduated from Chicago's Englewood High School. That year she was also crowned "Miss Englewood" at the already racially integrated Illinois high school.

She spent her adult life in Memphis, with the exceptions of caring for ailing family members out of town. When she entered the work force she held numerous jobs in retail, until she became a pharmacy technician for a major drug store. She served in this capacity for the remainder of her work life. All of her adult life Ann was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN, as long as her health supported her in doing so.

Ann is survived by her sons: Ronald Turner (Jacqueline) Minot, and Randy Turner, Memphis, TN; grandchildren: Gena Granger, Kevin Turner, Crystal Webber, Janelle Moody, Amber Cornforth and Coral Turner; ten great-grandchildren; brother, John Jenkins, Jr., Phoenix, AZ; an aunt and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. John Jenkins, Sr. and Mrs. Myrtle Jenkins, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn.

A private service will be held. Yes, it hurts to have her separated from us. Over time, though, and as we heal the hurt will lessen. What will never diminish, though is our deep-seated gratitude and sustaining joy, in that we consider ourselves privileged to be her children. And if you knew her, you understand why.
