IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Amy
Johnson
April 29, 1976 – September 12, 2018
On Sept. 12, 2018 our hearts were broken as God unexpectedly called Amy Juanita Johnson to his heavenly home.
Amy was the second daughter to be blessed to Nick and Chee Barber, April 29, 1976. Big sister Annie was very anxious for Amy's arrival. From day one, Amy had a sassy independent attitude, a zest for life incomparable. Amy was so excited when "she" became big sister to Amanda, whom she mothered and almost drowned by giving her a bottle whether she wanted it or not.
As Nick was in the Air Force we went from Scott AFB, Ill. traveling to Torrejon AB, Spain, Homestead AFB, Fla and lastly Minot AFB, ND. Minot was always Amy's home, leaving only when forced out by the flood to Kansas to stay with her sister Annie. Soon as the house was halfway livable, they were back in Minot.
Amy attended Lincoln Elementary, Erik Ramstad, Minot High School, and Minot University, graduating with multiple degrees.
On July 10, 1995, Amy was blessed with her son, Matthew Lloyd. God felt that he needed another angel, so on July 22, 1995, he called Matthew home to his arms. We may never understand God's reasoning, but we were thankful to have Matthew for 12 days.
God in his graciousness, surprised and blessed Amy with Caitlin Marie, born prematurely Dec 3 rd 1997, yet she flourished well. No words can express the depth of joy, pride and love Amy had for Caitlin.
Life is full of surprises, one big surprise, a chance meeting with in her words "the man who is more than her soul mate, her partner in life, her man who she has no doubt of his love and devotion who has stood beside her fighting with her," Benjamin Johnson. They became one on August 17, 2007, with Ben's dad, Jerry making the ceremony even more special uniting them in marriage.
Amy, in her short 42 years, fought many battles physically, emotionally, and mentally. Life knocked her to her knees many times, yet with God's help, love of life and love of family, Amy always got back up to fight another day often with laughter through her tears.
Amy had such a special relationship with her sisters, Annie and Amanda, they'd fight like cats and dogs, yet were always there for each other whether needed or not.
Amy's love of her nieces and nephews, Justin, James, T.J, Haley, Madison, Jocelyn, and Elyse, spoiling them, crocheting and sewing blankets, buying toys, doing art & crafts.
Amy had a natural talent in decorating, cooking, baking, scrapbooking and creating projects. She loved the Green Bay Packers and especially being able to rub Ben's nose in it when they beat his Vikings.
When God called Amy home to heaven, she was surrounded by her "pack", Rico Benjamin, Madelyn Elaine, Peyton Willow, and Sophia Isabella. Amy was ecstatic, because Sammi Ariel, her baby, made up with her by running around her. We are very thankful to God for allowing us the privilege and honor of having Amy in our lives.
We who shall keep Amy's memories alive: Ben-husband, Caitlin & Alec-daughter & her guy, Nick & Chee-parents, Annie & Paul-sister & brother-in-law, Amanda-sister, parent in-laws Jerry & Vicky, Matt & Jen-brother-in-law & wife and their 2 children, Jennifer & Mike-sister-in-law& husband and their 3 children.
