Amy Camilla Beuchler, 91, Minot and formerly of Sawyer and Columbus died on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in a Minot hospital.
Amy was born on January 4, 1926 in Columbus, ND (on the family farm near Columbus) to Nels and Thora (Thorkildson) Fagerbakke. She was reared on the family farm in Keller Township of Divide County, attended rural schools and graduated from Columbus High School in 1943. As a young adult she was employed at Ellison's Department Store in Minot and taught school at a rural school near Larson, ND.
Amy married Bennie Beuchler on July 29, 1945 in Columbus. They made their home on a farm in Willis Township of Ward County southwest of Sawyer for forty-eight years where they raised small grains. She was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker and was very active in the day to day operation of the farm. Bennie died on May 14, 1994 and she moved to Minot later that year.
Amy was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Minot and a former member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Sawyer, where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and was an active volunteer. Also, she served as President of the P.T.A. of the Sawyer School and Secretary of the Willis Township Board. She especially enjoyed, gardening, cooking, embroidery and relief quilting. Amy was very musically talented and played the piano, organ, guitar, accordion, and harmonica often entertaining family and friends.
Amy's loving family includes: her children, David (Peggy) Beuchler, Minot, Jacqueline (Robert) Lamont Minot and Duane "Chuck" Beuchler of Minot; four grandchildren: Diana (Bruce) McLean, Michael (Dena) Lamont, Steven (Allison) Beuchler and Fredrick (Lezlie) Beuchler; 11 great grandchildren: Danny, Nadia, Daria, Emerson and Anya Lamont; Lauren, Brayden and Erin McLean; Cassidy, Benjamin and Hannah Beuchler; sister: Joyce Frank of Williston; sisters-in-law: Edith Fagerbakke, Crosby and Betty Beuchler, Minot; brother-in-law: Larry Olson, Fontana, CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Marie Swanson, Ann Olson, Kenneth Marten, Norman Fagerbakke , Myrtle Rude, William Fagerbakke, Swanhild Mihovich, and an infant brother.
Celebration of Life service:
Saturday, April 8, 2017 at
1:00
p.m. in the Bible Fellowship Church, Minot.
Interment:
Sawyer Mennonite Cemetery.
Visitation:
Friday from 5:00-8:00 in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bible Fellowship Church.
